Prumpung TPU Potential to Add 200 Grave Plots

Land arrangement in the Prumpung Public Cemetery (TPU) area, Jatinegara, East Jakarta is still ongoing. From the results of this arrangement, there is the potential to produce the addition of 200 new grave plots.

East Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency Head, Djauhar Arifin said the land arrangement is conducted on the edge of the TPU area, which is widely used by residents for personal interests. Such as placing stalls, tents, tables, chairs, benches, even poultry cages and so on.

"From the land occupied by residents, after we carry out the arrangement, we have the potential to add around 200 new plots," he said, Wednesday (8/7).

According to him, the land being renovated would later be used directly for burials. If a resident dies, they will be immediately buried in the edge area, the ex-location where the arrangements were made since Friday (8/2) last week.

He explained the Prumpung TPU has an area of ​​4.7 hectares. Of this land area, there are 20,173 plots in existing conditions.

"It is also to maximize the grave area," he stated.
